Full Tilt Poker

Date reviewed: Sunday 9th of December 2012

In 2011 Full Tilt Poker was shut down due to a Federal Investigation. Lots of players had their accounts frozen and some complained of losing money. Therefore we do not recommend that players play at Full Tilt despite it reopening for business in December 2012.

Full Tilt Poker review

Bursting onto the  poker scene in 2004, Full Tilt Poker has become one of the most popular poker rooms online. Full Tilt has an army of poker legends, including Phil Ivey, Chris Ferguson, Howard Lederer and Erik Seidel to name a few. They are on hand to give advice, regularly posting tips and playing in tournaments.

Full Tilt Poker is licenced through the Kahnawake gaming commission, ensuring tight regulation and control of all poker games played at Full Tilt. Kahnawake is recognised as one of the most stringent commissions in the business, which is good to know.

Gameplay - 9/10

The poker games offered at Full Tilt Poker is one of the most impressive and extensive online. Games include Texas Hold'em, Omaha, Omaha Hi-Lo, Seven-Card Stud, Seven-Card Stud Hi-Lo, Five-Card Draw, Razz. Full Tilt Poker also offers mixed games such as H.O.R.S.E., H.O.S.E. and H.A., for both cash games and tournaments. There are No-Limit, Pot-Limit and Fixed-Limit and fun play games available. Full-table games, heads-up and short-hand tables are also available. Tournaments are regularly featured at Full Tilt Poker, with several starting everyday. These are mainly Texa Hold’em, but do feature other games from time to time. Players can enter satellites at Full Tilt, with a chance to qualify for WPT events.

The software comes in a download format only, but is available for both PC and Mac. It is regularly updated to ensure stability and security, something we particularly liked. Once in a poker room you can use a number of features to change your view, including an excellent mini-view for multi-table play. Choose from a selection of backdrops and cartoon avatars to make games a bit more enjoyable.

Promos - 9/10

New players joining Full Tilt Poker can enjoy a 100 percent matched bonus up to $600, which is one of the best we have found at any poker room online. See site terms for details of how this promotion works as terms do apply.

Make your first deposit at Full Tilt Poker and you’ll also get a free seat in a $50K First Deposit Freeroll, which takes place on the first Sunday of every month.

Full Tilt Poker regulars can earn loyalty points that can be used to enter weekly $3000 cash freeroll tournaments or to purchase merchandise from the Full Tilt shop. These points can be racked up quite quickly and the more you play the better they get.

Transactions - 8.5/10

For UK players there are a vast selection of payment options available at Full Tilt Poker. These include Debit/Credit card payment options such as Visa and Mastercard. You can also make deposits by NETeller, Citadel, ePassporte, Moneybookers and other other cash transfer services. There is also the option of depositing by money order or cheque. Withdrawals can be pretty much done using all the same methods as depositing – the quickest being to a debit card you deposited with. US players will find a limited selection of options, but it is possible.
Full Tilt Poker uses 128-bit SSL encryption to protect sensitive information online, and also does everything possible to protect user information off-line. This is clearly stated on their website as a commitment to security.

Customer Service - 7/10

We weren’t overally impressed with the support offered at Full Tilt Poker. No phone number, no live chat. Instead you are given a long list of email addresses and a F.A.Q section. For such a big poker site this really doesn’t do them any credit and if there was any complaint about their service it would be that there is a below-par level of support offered. In defense of Full Tilt’s customer service, our emails were replied to in under half an hour, but more options would be greatly appreciated.
