Extrabet Review

Those unfamiliar with spread betting firm Extrabet, will have probably heard of its parent company IG Financial, which also owns IG Index. Extrabet is the sports side of the business and has been taking bets since 1993, longer than pretty much any other spread betting firm. The London-based business runs a huge amount of markets everyday, with up to 200 in-play during any Premiership football weekend or International cricket test match.

Unlike most other spread betting firms, Extrabet also offers fixed-odds betting, giving punters a wide selection of betting options online. Being owned and operated in the UK, Extrabet is licenced and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and adhere’s to strict codes of conduct by the FSA – the financial regulatory body in Britain.

Features - 8/10

As well as offering a huge selection of betting markets for spread betting and fixed-odds betting, Extrabet also offer something called binary betting. This form of betting is very common in the financial betting world, however it is almost non-existant at any other sports betting firm. The wide selection of in-play markets sets Extrabet apart from many of its competitors, with as many as 300 running at any one time. If you want to get on any of the markets from your phone, then Extrabet have a mobile version of their site available through most smart phone devices.

Promos/Odds - 8.5/10

Extrabet are currently offering a massive £125 free bet for new customers when they open an account. This can be redeemed over a series of bets at the site. Your first bet will be matched up to £25 and then you can claim £75 worth of free bets thereafter. You can also claim a free £25 worth of fixed odds bets. From time to time Extrabet run leaderboard competitions, with cash prizes regularly dished out to the top placed punters that take part.

The odds at Extrabet are pretty competitive on both the fixed odds and the spread betting, which is one of their strong points. The in-play markets are some of the best odds we could find on any given event.

Transactions - 7.5/10

There are not a massive variety of deposit options at Extrabet, which is a bit of a shame. The main ones on offer are credit cards such as mastercard and visa, there is also delta, maestro, Laser, Solo and Asian payments available. Withdrawals are fairly simple through the site and are usually paid out promptly. You can also use phone betting to make deposits and withdrawals.

The associated risk attached to spread betting requires it to be heavily governed in the UK, and this means that Extrabet are audited regularly for fairness and to ensure they are providing a responsible service. They use state-of-the-art encryption technology to protect customer transactions and secure personal information.

Customer Service - 8/10

Extrabet provide a good variety of customer support options, such as phone, email and even post. It’s always nice to know a firm is not afraid to put their address in their customer contact details. They are generally quite quick to pick up calls, with delays only occurring around the big betting events. They will normally respond to an email within an hour.
