BetOnMarkets (Bet On Markets) is a unique betting platform positioned in the financial trading arena. Its fixed odds format means you can place bets just as you would with a traditional bookmaker. However, these bets are not on sport, but on a wide variety of financial markets. By using a series of complex mathematical algorithms the BetOnMarkets website offers an array of bets on forex currencies, UK and US stocks/shares and commodities.
BetOnMarkets (UK) is parts of Regents Market Ltd who are based in the Isle of Man. They have been granted a license to trade as a Bookmaker by the IOM Gambling Commission. Their UK site has been in business since 2003, although BetonMarkets has been trading globally since 1999.
BetonMarkets trading and market guide
Features - 7.5/10
BetOnMarkets is a good place to start for those who are dipping a tentative toe into the world of financial betting. This is because most financial betting firms offer bets in the form of spreads or binary bets, BetOnMarkets offers fixed odds. This means that your risk is limited to your initial stake. Tax free betting is currently offered on all bets throughout the site, however this is subject to changes in UK law.
There are an extensive range of charts on offer at BetOnMarkets, including real time forex charts at your disposal. Some of these will require Java installed on your computer to access them, so make sure you have it. It is not always easy to get hold of historical data and you may be forced to use your own software/programs for such information. Before playing for real money at BetOnMarkets you may decide to open a virtual account with 10k of virtual funds to play with. This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the software before spending your money.
Promos/Odds - 6/10
We were disappointed that there weren’t more promotions or loyalty offerings once joining or regularly placing bets with BetonMarkets.
One thing BetOnMarkets suffers from in this niche betting market is a lack of competitors. This might explain the lack of fanciable odds on bets. Although this is balanced out with wide variety of types of bet and market you can wager on. You can’t have it all!
Transactions - 7.5/10
All major credit and debit cards are accepted including electron, switch and solo. There are no associated charges for making deposits or withdrawals in this way. Bank drafts, transfers and wiring funds is also available, however you may be charged for such services. You can also make deposits with paypal, neteller and western union, which normally incur a 5% charge.
Minimum deposits at BetOnMarkets is £10 and are usually instant if paying by credit/debit card. Withdrawals can be requested through your account, although you will normally need a minimum of £10 in your account.
Customer Service - 6.5/10
BetOnMarkets is really let down by its customer support. This is mainly because it is very hard to get hold of an agent when you need one. Even when emailing, responses can be short and unclear. When you are a regular online gambler, you expect more. They have recently added live chat via Skype, which may help. They have also informed us that this is something they are looking to improve. We can only hope so, as this really can take the enjoyment out of betting at BetOnMarkets.
