The fifteen employees of Victor Chandler who were arrested in Kuala Lumpur last week have been released on bail by Malaysian authorities. All of them will have to present themselves to police on 2nd July as part of ongoing investigations.

Phil Hall, a spokesman for Victor Chandler International, told the Gaming Intelligence Group that the fifteen staff members were all employed within the Customer Service and IT departments in Victor Chandler's Kuala Lumpur office.

He stressed that the employees at the Kuala Lumpur office had done not broken the law and that no form of gambling, including the receipts of bets, took place in this Kuala Lumpur office. He also stated that the company did not take bets from Malaysian players.

There has been no information of why the arrests took place, but many believe it is related to Malaysia’s strict controls on gambling. The company said that the Malaysian authorities have yet to charge those arrested, so they are still unaware of why their employee’s were detained.

Victor Chandler has confirmed that they will be sending some senior company executives to Malaysia from Gibraltar over the next two weeks. Whether these executives face questioning too, will remain to be seen.
