Betting slipAn online gambler from Hampshire won a massive £500,000 within the space of 24 hours when both of his five-fold accumulator football bets came to fruition.

The UK-based man, who has chosen to remain anonymous, placed £450 on a five-fold accumulator surrounding Thursday's European football action (at Sky Bet):

BATE Borisov (3/1); Apoel Tel Aviv (7/4); Debrecen (7/2); NK Maribor (2/1); Atktobe (11/4)

All of his predictions won, netting him a cool £250,000, with three out of the five matches being won by late goals.

Less than 24 hours later he staked £600 on another five-fold accumulator:

Djurdardens (2/1); MTK Budapest (6/4); Kaiserslautern (13/2); Southend (10/3); FC Ergzebirge (8/13)

Again, the lucky punter's predictions won, and again his small stake ended up winning him another £250,000!

Accumulator (or parlay) bets are the hardest to achieve as every result needs to go your way. If all your bet predictions end up being correct apart from the last one, then nothing is won. The upside is that, if everything does work out according to plan, a lot of money can be made.

Mike Triffitt, senior football compiler for Sky Bet, said: "Bookmakers are normally happy when a whole host of short-priced favourites lose, but this particular customer excels at lumping numerous outsiders together.

“His luck was in on Thursday as three of his selections were landed by late goals and we paid out GBP 250 000 and hoped that was the end of it.

"Last night Bayern (Munich) were all the rage before kick-off and the hosts Kaiserslautern went off as an unfancied 13/2 shots but went on to win 2-0. Couple that with Southend's first away win since last Christmas at Bradford and it turned into a disastrous 24 hours for our traders.

"It's incredible really; to win GBP 250 000 once is amazing - to do it on successive days is every punters' dream.”

And that is not all: the same man reportedly won £90,000 on a treble bet earlier this month.
