| Store Clerk Lottery Error Makes Man Multi-Millionaire |
A store clerk in a shop in Edmonton, Canada, processed a lottery ticket in error and ended up winning a customer a life-changing C$16 million (£9.9m).Stan Knapp went to buy his normal Lotto Max ticket from his local store last month when, by complete accident, the lottery clerk processed a 6/49 ticket in addition to Stan's normal purchase. He had no problem with buying the ticket done in error and, unsurprisingly, it was only the winning lottery ticket!
It was the Canadian man's calm, relaxed, forgiving nature that meant he ended up becoming a multi-millionaire. A similar recent incident occurred, again in Canada, where a lottery clerk produced a ticket in error and it ended up winning C$30 million (£18.65m). This time, however, the customer chose not to purchase the ticket as why should they pay for someone else's mistake? Ouch!
Apparently, the store owner in Edmonton reported that Mr Knapp, on finding out that his ticket was the winning one, remained completely calm throughout and that his reaction barely changed when the machine, which initially reported his win as being Cdn1.6 million, changed it to ten times more.
