Sky Bingo logoSky Bingo is doing its bit to help save a part of the Amazon rainforest this month with a campaign involving Sky Rainforest Rescue and WWF UK that hopes to raise £500.

Throughout February, Sky Bingo will donate funds for every player that goes to the online bingo site’s Facebook page and clicks the ‘like’ icon. These funds will go towards saving one billion trees from being destroyed in the Acre region of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil.

Sky Bingo stated that deforestation is responsible for up to a 1/5th of all the world’s greenhouse gas emissions which is just as much as the emissions created by all transport methods in the world including cars, planes, trains and ships.

A statement from Sky Bingo said “The rainforest provides food, shelter and livelihoods for almost all of the 30 million people living in the Amazon.”

It added “SkyBingo.com thinks this is an important cause to support and if you want to help tackle climate change with a simple click of a button head over to the SkyBingo.com Facebook page and become a fan. The online bingo company will donate 25p to the campaign for every new ‘like’ throughout February.”
