Former Australian international cricket legend Shane Warne was dogged in more controversy this week after it was revealed his advert for 888poker had started to appear on an x-rated pornographic website.The advert is promoting 888poker and consists of Warne beaming a smile before throwing chips and cards towards the camera. However, Warne’s agent has denied that either he or Warne had any idea that the advert was running on the hardcore porn website.
This most recent piece of controversy is the latest in a long line of controversial matters that the cricket spin wizard Warne has had to deal with. In 2003, Warne was sent home from the World Cup after testing positive for the drug diuretic. He has also persistently been linked to rumours of extra-marital affairs including having an affair with British actress Liz Hurley.
However, this latest incident has caused concern given Warne’s association with the Shane Warne Foundation that helps seriously ill and under privileged children. Warne’s brother, Jason, is general manager of the charity and was quick to calm the situation, particularly given 888poker’s strong support for the charity.
"If they were breaking the law, then obviously that's something we'd take umbrage to and disassociate with but I don't know," said Warne’s brother.
He added "It's something that I'll speak to the board about and get their opinions on, but it's not something I really want to take a stand on myself just off the cuff.”
