Robbie Williams Poker logoBritish pop star Robbie Williams was back in the public eye this week after announcing he was planning to launch his own online poker website.

The former Take That member carved a very successful solo career with memorable hits such as ‘Angels’, ‘Millennium’ and ‘Rock DJ’ but the controversial music icon is now surprising everyone by taking a route down the online gaming path.

His new planned venture is set to simply be called ‘Robbie Williams Poker’ and is an adventurous step for the pop singer who has regularly been seen playing the tables at the Premiere Club in Swindon with his long time friend Jonathan Wilkes.

It is well known that Williams has an enthusiasm and talent for poker so it is not perhaps all that shocking that he has finally chosen to make a push into the online poker market.

Williams has a history of organising poker schools after setting up a number of schools in Los Angeles when he lived out there during his musical pomp. He used to invite A-list celebrities including Tom Jones to his schools and they proved to be quite a hit.

The new poker site claims it is “new home for free fun poker” and instead of players playing at cash tables, players can instead play for fabulous prizes such as concert tickets, Robbie Williams merchandise and even win the chance to meet the great man himself.

There are tables and tournaments that do require a buy-in but the main emphasis of the site appears to be on playing poker for fun and introducing players to the game.

A spokesman for Robbie Williams confirmed that “the project is scheduled to go live online early this year”.
