|PokerStars Confirms 2012 WCOOP Schedule|
Online poker site PokerStars confirmed the schedule for the 2012 World Championship of Online Poker this week.
The tournament is set to take begin on Sunday 2nd September, 2012 at 6pm BST. The opening event will be the $215 buy-in Six Maximum No Limit Hold’em event. The tournament will finish 22 days later with the celebrated $5,200 buy-in WCOOP Main Event. The winner of the 2012 WCOOP Main Event will win at least $1 million.
The 2012 WCOOP will be made up of 62 events over the course of three weeks of online poker action. The events will be varied consisting of Omaha, Stud, Horse, Razz and Badugi games. Buy-ins for the events within the tournament will range from $109 to $10,300.
A PokerStars statement read “The 2011 WCOOP created a bank-busting guarantee-smashing $47,120,800 in prize monies. That's a phenomenal amount of cash. If you stacked it in quarters it would reach to the moon and back three times over. Maybe. Either way it's a whole lot of money up for grabs, which you can gun for through satellites or direct buy-ins. Last year two of the big winners were WCOOP main event winner Thomas 'Kallllle' Pedersen and Joel Adam '2FLY2TILT' Gordon.”
The statement continued “Pedersen took down the biggest online poker event of the year for a staggering 1,260,018 while Gordon's consistency gifted him the Player of the Series award after scoring $96,097 in cashes. That leaderboard win grossed him a further European Poker Tour Grand Final prize package, a Spring Championship of Online Poker main event ticket and a PokerStars Caribbean Adventure package not to mention the trophy and special chip set. All in all, it was a very profitable series despite almost ending in boxer shorts calamity.”
PokerStars has also encouraged players to offer their feedback on the 2012 WCOOP schedule stating that there is still room for manoeuvre to make the tournament better for the players involved. The full schedule can be found on the PokerStars website.
