Playnow.com site downPlayNow.com, the controversial first state-sanctioned online casino in North America, owned by the even more controversial lottery corporation of British Columbia, gave assurances that it won't re-activate the website until a thorough independent review has been conducted, which can assure its users' privacy.

British Columbia's Information and Privacy Commissioner, Elizabeth Denham, issued a written report yesterday, stating she has been given a guarantee by BCLC that their PlayNow.com won't be resumed until a third party investigation can assure the sites privacy.

She wrote that the independent investigation has already taken place and, although no time frame has been given, the site can be resumed once the commission is “satisfied” privacy will be “fully protected”.

Denham declined to be interviewed as the investigation is still ongoing.
