Paddy Power logoOne of the most controversial bookmakers in the world has been confirmed as the bookmaker that is performing most effectively on the social media front this week.

A report by QuBit stated that the UK’s top gambling sites and bookmakers were already ensuring a heavy presence on social networking sites in order to improve their business and Paddy Power has been confirmed as the firm that is performing the best in this area with online betting exchange Betfair coming a close second.

The report analysed the top ten betting sites in the UK based on monthly website page hits and then gave each site a ‘social score’. The ‘social score’ involved QuBit calculating each company’s reach on social networking sites which is then compared to the average amount of time a player spends on the site and how much revenue is generated through each source.

Some of the top sites that were included in the report were Sky Bet, William Hill and bet365.

It might not come as a surprise to many that Paddy Power leads the way. The Irish bookmaker is constantly releasing controversial advertising campaigns and has been involved in its fair share of PR-related controversy.

Only a couple of months ago, the bookmaker was slammed after Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner revealed a pair of Paddy Power pants after scoring in a 2012 European Championship match versus Portugal contravening tournament advertising rules.
