Roberto Mancini imageWilliam Hill confirmed today that Manchester City’s title odds had taken a big knock after their 1-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park last night.

A 60th minute wonder strike by ex-Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson gave the Toffees all three points in the Premiership clash last night as Manchester City surrendered their 3 point lead at the top of the table.

Matters were made worse for Premiership leaders with their title and city rivals, Manchester United, winning 2-0 against Stoke at Old Trafford with goals from Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov.

Results last night mean that William Hill is now offering Manchester City at 5/6 to win the title after lengthening their odds from 2/5. Manchester United are now available at 5/4 having dropped from 9/4.

William Hill spokesman Graham Sharpe stated “All of a sudden it is all to play for again, and Mancini's job may be back on the line.”

Roberto Mancini admitted that he had not prepared his team properly for last night’s game. Mancini made suggestions that he had under-estimated Everton despite their recent poor record against David Moyes’ men.

Mancini said "Probably it's my fault because we didn't prepare very well for this game. I thought before the game it was going to be easier but it is never easy."
