| Irish Thieves Rob Bookies Then Get Caught Having a Pint |
Two Irish robbers were arrested after being found drinking in a pub just a matter of yards from the bookmakers they had stolen from just a short time before a court heard this week.Owen Comerford pleaded guilty to robbing Boylesports on Capel Street in Dublin back in January 2009. The Dublin Circuit court heard how Comerford and an accomplice robbed the bookmakers whilst wearing balaclavas and holding imitation guns.
During the robbery, Cromerford leaped over the counter and emptied the cash from the counters whilst his accomplice held everyone in line with the imitation gun. The pair then made their hasty escape but were thwarted when a witness spotted the cunning duo head into a near by pub for a drink.
When the police arrived, the witness pointed them in the direction of the pub and the robbers were arrested on the spot after police found the stolen money on them that tallied up to €570.
Judge Martin Nolan, speaking at court, ordered Cromerford to serve a 2 year sentence in prison with the last 15 months suspended. His accomplice is being faced with separate charges.
