Footballer Diouf Caught up in Casino Brawl Claim

El Hadji DioufThe controversial Blackburn footballer El Hadji Diouf could face criminal charges after a woman claimed he beat her up in a casino brawl last summer.

Diouf, 29, who now plays for Blackburn Rovers is alleged to have hit the woman during a heated argument in the Casino du Cap Vert at Almadies in Senegal.

A source told the Daily Star: “The alleged incident happened around 6am on June 28 last year. Ms Sy reported the matter to police on July 2, producing a doctor’s certificate stating she was too badly injured to work for 20 days.

“He was charged with wounding with intent when he appeared in court in Senegal last Friday. Diouf could now be locked up when he next goes on trial at capital Dakar’s district court.”

Officials from Blackburn Rovers said they were looking into the matter as the allegations are very serious.

If found guilty, Diouf could spend up to two years in prison.
