Big money piled on for Premiership finale

A flurry of betting activity has been reported by some of the major bookmakers as the Premiership title is to be decided on the last day of the season.

Man Utd and Chelsea are both sat on 84 points, with Ferguson’s side ahead on goal difference. A Win on Sunday for 1/5 title favourites Man Utd will guarantee them the Premiership title. However, both William Hill and Ladbrokes have seen punters betting heavily on Chelsea at 4/1 to take the Premiership trophy back to London.

The bookies believe that the Lactic’s impressive home record is giving punters hope that they might hold Utd at home. Wigan are unbeaten in their last five matches and have not been defeated at home in the league since January.

Rumours that former Old Trafford favourite Steve Bruce may roll-over for his ex-employers were quashed today, with Bruce stating that his reputation was far more important then any old club ties.

At the bottom of the table it is just as tight with three teams poised perilously close to the drop zone. Birmingham are 1/6 to go down with already relegated Derby, as they will not only have to win, but hope other results go their way too. Fulham’s massive win over Birmingham last week, could have saved them. A crucial clash with Portsmouth on Sunday sits between them and Premiership survival.

All remaining games will be played on Sunday 11th May at 15:00 BST.
