WSOP logoThe 2012 World Series of Poker schedule was confirmed this week and the big news was that the November Nine had been dropped from the schedule.

This year’s tournament will include 61 events that will take place from Sunday 27th May, 2012 until Monday 16th July, 2012 at the Rio All-Suite Casino and Hotel in Las Vegas.

Rumours had been circulated that the November Nine would be dropped this year and confirmation of this came when it was announced that the WSOP Main Event finale would be scheduled earlier at the end of October with the Final Table taking place between Sunday 28th October, 2012 and Tuesday 30th October, 2012. It will be held in the Penn and Teller Theatre at the Rio.

The 2012 WSOP Main Event will begin back in the summer when the first day of action begins on Saturday 7th July, 2012. The tournament will then go on until the final 9 players are left for the Final Table in October.

Jack Effel, WSOP Tournament Director, stated "This year's WSOP schedule is very exciting.”

This year’s tournament will begin in traditional fashion with the $500 Casino Employees Tournament. It will be the 43rd World Series of Poker tournament and is set to be the biggest yet with 470 tables available for play each day as opposed to 378 in 2011.

"We're introducing some fantastic new events, while bringing back many successful stalwarts that our players love. We will expand our footprint this year to include extra tables dedicated to cash games, as well as plenty of satellite and single-day tournament space, so players will have an easy time finding a desirable game without ever having to leave the Rio Convention Center,” said Effel.
